Add-on Notes
Add-on Notes ensure that whenever the AI cites particular document(s) in an answer, a note is appended to the answer. This note can provide users with additional instructions, context, or next steps. For example, if an answer references an Employee Handbook, a Power User might configure an add-on note advising the user to “reach out to HR for any follow-up questions.” This rule helps reinforce organizational policies or point users to human assistance when needed.

Accessing the Response Rules: Add-On Notes
In the chat Interface, navigate to Docs in the left-side panel.

On the Docs page, click AI Response Rules - this will open the AI Response Rules page, where all the previously created rules will be listed.


Creating a New Rule
To add a new rule, click the Create New Rule button at the top of the page. A dialog box will open, allowing you to fill in the required information:

Enter the Rule Name: Begin by entering a clear and descriptive name for your rule.

Select Document Triggers: Choose one or more documents that will trigger this rule. These are the specific documents that, when referenced in an AI response, will cause the add-on note to appear. You can select multiple documents if the same message should apply to all of them.

Enter the Add-On Message: In the message field, type the note that should appear in AI responses related to the selected documents.

Save the Rule: Once all fields are complete, click Save. The new rule will appear instantly in the list.
Example of configuring an Add-on Note rule. In this example, a Power User is creating a rule that triggers whenever the AI cites the Slipstream Employee Handbook. The Add-on Message field is filled with a note instructing the user to contact HR for employment-related questions. Once the rule is created, it will apply that note to any answer citing the handbook.

After saving, the new AI Response Rule is immediately added to the list of rules.

Managing Existing Rules
The rules can be modified or deleted as needed:
To Edit a Rule
Click the pencil icon next to the rule you want to update. You can modify the rule name, message, or associated document as required. After making the changes, click Save to apply the updates.
To Delete a Rule
Click the bin icon next to the rule, confirm the deletion in the pop-up dialog, and the rule will be permanently removed from the list.

AI Responses with Add-On Notes in Chat
With the AI Response Rule in place, whenever an end user’s query triggers the rule (i.e., the AI’s answer involves one of the specified documents), the AI’s response is automatically modified to include the add-on note. In the chat interface, the AI’s answer is presented as usual, followed by the additional note text that the Power User configured. This note is typically displayed at the end of the AI’s message, ensuring the user sees the extra guidance or information immediately after the relevant answer content.
