View, Upload & Delete Documents

This walkthrough will guide you through how to view documents, upload new files to your knowledge base, and delete documents you no longer need.

All Coheso users can view documents in the Docs view, while Power Users have the additional ability to upload new documents and delete existing ones. The Docs section centralizes files used by AI Q&A and the Document Drill-Down feature. Below are the steps for viewing documents (all users) and uploading/deleting documents (Power Users).

Viewing Documents

To access the Documents, click on the Docs in the left panel. This action will open the Documents interface, where all the uploaded files are listed.

Within the Documents interface, Users can browse the list of available files. Each document name appears as a clickable link. Clicking a document name opens the file in a new browser tab for easy review


Uploading Documents (Power Users Only)

Power users can add new documents to the repository. To add a document, the user can click the + Add New button in the Docs view. When + Add New is clicked, an upload dialog appears, allowing the user to select files or folders to upload into the knowledge base.

In the Add New Files dialog, drag & drop one or more files or folders, or click the area to browse and select files from your system. Uploading a folder will include all subfolders and files, preserving the folder structure in Coheso.

After selecting the files or folders to upload, the chosen items will appear in a list in the upload dialog; uploading continues even if you leave the page. When you have added all desired files, click the Upload button to begin the upload process. Coheso will start processing the documents.

A green confirmation pop-up (bottom right) will appear when each document has been successfully processed and added to your library. (Processing may take up to a minute per document.

When the upload succeeds, the documents are indexed for AI Q&A and appear in the Drill-Down results.

Alternative Upload (Drill-Down Panel)

In any conversation’s Document Drill-Down panel (right side of the chat), Power Users will also see an Upload button. Clicking this button opens the same upload dialog, allowing documents to be added without navigating to the Documents page.


Deleting Documents (Power Users Only)

Power Users can delete documents that are no longer needed. In the documents list, each file entry has a trash can icon on the right side. To delete a file, the user can click the trash icon next to the document’s name. Clicking the icon will initiate the deletion of that document from Coheso.

When you click the delete icon, a confirmation dialog will appear. If you are sure you want to remove the file completely, click the Delete button in the confirmation prompt. (Click Cancel if you do not wish to proceed) Once confirmed, the document will be deleted from your organization’s library and this action cannot be undone. The document will no longer appear in Docs and will not be referenced by any AI Q&A.


Exiting the Docs view

After viewing, deleting or, uploading documents, you can exit the Docs view. To return to the main Coheso chat interface, click the X button at the top-right of the Documents panel. This will close the Documents view and take you back to the chat interface.
