Summarize Documents (Power User)

Coheso’s Summarize Documents feature is available to Power Users, enabling quick generation of PDF summaries for one or multiple documents. The following guide provides a step-by-step walkthrough for creating document summaries and managing them within the Coheso platform.

Generating Document Summaries

In the conversation view, click the Summary tab at the bottom of the chat interface to start the Summarize Documents feature. Once activated, the interface will prompt you to select documents for summarization.

A Select Documents for Summarization panel will appear on the right. Click the Select documents dropdown menu to choose the files you want to summarize. You may select up to 5 documents - Coheso will generate a separate PDF summary for each selected document.

After selecting your document(s), you can type specific instructions or focus points for the AI in the chat input area. For example, you might instruct Coheso to emphasize certain sections or topics in the summary. If you prefer a general overview, simply leave this input box blank. When ready, click the Summarize button to generate the document summary (or summaries).

Viewing and Managing Summaries

Coheso will process the document(s) and create the summary PDFs. Once the summaries are ready, a confirmation message appears in the conversation, listing each summarized document. Click View to open the summary within Coheso, or Download to save the PDF file to your device.

You can access any previously generated summaries via the Docs section. Click Docs in the left-hand navigation menu to open your organization’s Documents repository. This section lists all documents in your knowledge base and provides access to their summaries, so you can review or retrieve past summary files at any time.

In the Documents list, find the file for which you want to see summary details (for example, the document you just summarized). On that document’s row, click the Summary icon on the far right side. This will bring up the Summary History for that document, showing all summaries that have been generated for it.

The Summary window for the selected document will list all previously generated summaries, along with details like the prompt used, creation date, and creator. For each entry, you can click the View (eye) icon to open the summary, the Download (down-arrow) icon to save the PDF, or the Delete (trash can) icon to remove an outdated summary. These controls let you manage past summaries directly from this interface.

You can also create additional summaries from this Summary window. At the top of the window, there is a New Summary Prompt field. Enter a custom prompt or instructions for a new summary of the same document. Then click the Create New Summary button. Coheso will generate a new summary using your prompt, and it will appear in the history list once completed.

When you are finished reviewing or adding summaries for the document, click the X (close button) at the top-right corner of the Summary History dialog. This will close the popup window and return you to the main Documents page.

To go back to the conversation screen, click theX (close button) . This exits the Documents section and brings you back to the chat interface. You can now continue your conversation or start a new Q&A or summary session as needed.
